[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Re: Are you doing anything for the Moon?
« on: January 13, 2020, 12:35:37 pm »
Could anyone share here their methods? I used to do this when I was Wiccan, but I don't identify as Wiccan anymore and would like to explore other methodologies
My method is really quite simple. I don't include any herbs or crystals or anything...
I just fill a mason jar (or multiple jars) with clean, filtered water and let it sit (with the lid off) on my balcony throughout the night of the full moon. Outdoor conditions can make this challenging, but I just prefer trying to make it work this way if the weather permits.

What is moon water?
It is water that has been left out to absorb the energy and magic from the full moon. The details on how this is done can vary by individual practice, and the uses of it also varies by person. But basically that is all it is :)

Em hotep!

I haven't been feeling well lately so I didn't do anything for this past full moon (or even the last couple full moons), but I do normally do something for the full moon as well as the new moon. What I do varies... it could be creating moon water or tarot readings, as others have said. Sometimes I'll treat it as a special day and give Djehuty nice or unique offerings. More often than not, I treat these days as a point of meditation and guidance on things actively occurring in my life. Sometimes I will incorporate some heka into it.

This is 100% my personal take and not Kemetic Orthodoxy teachings: To me, the new moon is a moment of high potential energy whereas the full moon is pure kinetic energy. I also think of the new moon as similar to the Nun, in a way, in that the darkness holds all that is needed for creation to occur, we just need that moment or that push for creation to begin. The full moon is the moment of complete creation. So as the waxing moon heads toward the full moon, I utilize that creative energy. As the waning moon heads toward the new moon, I harvest that energy for the next moment. The on-goings of my life rarely line up to fit into this moon cycle, but I still enjoy thinking about the moon this way.

Endy

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Re: Your first senut?
« on: January 08, 2020, 04:13:36 pm »
I really honestly have zero memory of it.
I don't remember what my first Senut was like, either! In fact, I can barely even remember what my first shrine looked like...

However, I do remember my overall feeling around Senut. Taswau experienced a very similar thing as me:
I’ll be honest, as this may be an experience other new folks have, my first senut I didn’t feel a whole lot. The candle was nice, I enjoyed the incense, but I otherwise felt very little. I felt like I was talking to an empty shrine. It was kind of underwhelming for how long the process to prepare was.

I’ve found now, about a year and a half later, that treating it a bit more casually works better for me. [snip]

I lived in a dorm room when I first took the Beginner's class so I had to wait a while before actually doing Senut. I had built it up so much in my head and created such high expectations to feel something that when I finally did Senut for the first time, I felt underwhelmed. It took me way longer than Taswau to figure out that I needed to treat it more casually, though. The Senut ritual is meant to be something that is performed regularly. If the ritual were intense or super formal, it would be incredibly difficult for the average person to do this routinely. Even treating it more casually, it can still be difficult to do regularly!

Em hotep, everyone!

The fundraising period for December ends today. The total funds raised during this period are:

$1,453.26

Thank you all who financially supported the House of Netjer! We are a little shy of our $1,500 fundraising goal, but fortunately we have funds in the Rollover Fund to bring us up to our goal. With this money, $500 will go toward general House of Netjer and minor Tawy House expenses. $1,000 will go toward supporting Hemet to work for four 8-hour days per week in November (in addition to $1,000 Ministerial Services Contract). Since some money was removed from the Rollover Fund, the total has now decreased to:

$398.09

Announcement:
I, Djehutyendy, am stepping down from my responsibilities within the Fundraising Team. If you have any questions regarding fundraising, please contact the other Team members (Tatuayinepu, Tawa'ubastmut, and Khaiptah). There is currently a call for a new volunteer. And after today, Tatua will be the one sending out fundraising announcements.

Em hotep, everyone!

We are a little over halfway through our current fundraising period for December. The financial status as of November 7th, 2019 is:

$1086.72

Thank you all so much for continuing to support the House of Netjer! We are close to our Fundraising goal or $1,500 which will satisfy the Ministerial Services Contract to support Hemet to work for four 8-hour days per week.

If you plan on donating this month, please remember to donate through the PayPal Giving Fund or through Zelle! Regular PayPal donations removes up to 10% of your donation through fees, whereas the Giving Fund and Zelle do not have any fees.

Lastly, here is a reminder of the general breakdown of the funds that we raise:
  • $500: General House of Netjer and minor Tawy House expenses (please see the financial page for details on temple fees, and don't hesitate to ask any questions!)
  • $1,000: This goes toward Hemet's salary in addition to $1,000 from the Ministerial Services Contract, which supports her to do the various tasks needed for the temple to function (such as emails/forums, ritual work, pastoral counseling, divinations/RPDS, teaching, research, translations, etc)
  • Anything left over: Goes into the Rollover Fund

We have just a couple days left until the end of the November fundraising period (October 20th). The financial status as of October 15th* is:

$1176.31

We are $323.69 away from reaching our goal of $1,500! With your help, I know we can make it.

Senebty,
Endy and the Fundraising Team

*Our wonderful Financial Bak provided me with the status by the end of the day on 10/15, however I had a personal emergency and was not able to relay that information to you all until now. My apologies!

Em hotep, everyone!

The fundraising period for November is a little more than half way done! As of October 7th, 2019, we have:

$1074.25

Thank all of you who have donated! Your contribution helps support the House of Netjer and Hemet(AUS!) We have 12 more days left in the fundraising period. We need to raise a minimum of $1,500 to satisfy the Ministerial Services Contract, which will support Hemet to work for four 8-hour days per week.

With the new contract in place, we will be collecting a total of $2,500 each month. This money will be distributed in the following ways:
  • $500: General House of Netjer and minor Tawy House expenses (please see the financial page for details on temple fees, and don't hesitate to ask any questions!)
  • $2,000: Hemet's salary, which supports her to do the various tasks needed for the temple to function (such as emails/forums, ritual work, pastoral counseling, divinations/RPDS, teaching, research, translations, etc)
  • Anything left over: Goes into the Rollover Fund

PayPal Donations
If you donate through regular PayPal, please consider donating instead through PayPal Giving Fund or Zelle. Regular PayPal removes up to 10% of your donation through fees. The percentage removed in fees varies depending on the amount donated, with smaller donations having a higher percentage in fees! Here are a few of examples of the fee breakdown for domestic donations (international donations have a higher fee):
  • $5 donation: Fees are 8.2% (the House receives $4.59)
  • $10 donation: Fees are 6.7% (the House receives $9.33)
  • $30 donation: Fees are 3.2% (the House receives $29.04)

Em hotep, everyone!

I apologize for the delay in announcing the final total that was raised during the October fundraising period, which ended on September 20th. This delay was due to waiting on finalization of the new Ministerial Services Contract. This new contract is effective immediately, therefore it is included in the final total we have collected, which is:

$2,885.26

Thank you all who financially supported the House of Netjer! $1,000 of this total is from the Ministerial Services Contract. The rest was raised through your donations and participation in the online auction event. Nekhtet!

The first $500 that was collected will go toward general House of Netjer and minor Tawy House expenses. $2,000 will go toward supporting Hemet to work for four 8-hour days per week in October. The remaining money will be held in the Rollover Fund, which now has a total of:

$480.02

Em hotep and welcome! :)

14
Em hotep, everyone!

Today is September 15th, which means that we have 5 days left of the current fundraising period for October. As of today, we have:

$1,177.07

You may notice that this amount is lower than what I stated in my last announcement. This is due to an error in calculations from the previous status that did not take into account PayPal fees. As a result, I figured this would be a great time to remind everyone to donate through PayPal Giving Fund or Zelle to avoid these fees and ensure that 100% of your donation actually makes it to the House of Netjer!

Lastly, don't forget to check out our online auction! All money raised through the auction will be donated to the House of Netjer. There are 4 days left to bid on these great items: https://www.helpingtawy.com/all-auctions/

Em hotep, everyone!

We are just a little more than half-way through our fundraising period for October! For those of you who have already donated, thank you so much for supporting Hemet(AUS!) and the House of Netjer. As of today, September 6th, 2019, we have:

$1281.44

The fundraising period for October is from August 21st to September 20th, so we have 14 more days left. Just a reminder, the first $500 that we raise goes toward general House of Netjer and minor Tawy House expenses. The amount we raise after that, in increments of $500, will pay for Hemet's salary ($500 = one 8-hour day per week, $1000 = two 8-hour days, etc). Last month we managed to raise $2,500. With 14 days left, can we reach that amount again this month?

Online Auction:
The online auction will be held from September 10th at 3:00PM Central (Tawy time) to September 19th at 3:00PM. Proxy bidding will be aavailable for this auction. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions!

Endy and the Fundraising Team
