Hotep Jet! *henu*
I was also wondering in regards to privacy if you could either ask the rest of the folks to give you 15-30 minutes of time to pray/medidate/contemplate your navel (^_^), or if there really isn't anywhere you could "hang out" undisturbed for a little bit if you'd be able to perform Senut either early AM (which sucks if you're not a morning person) or later at night once folks have settled down for the night (which sucks if you are a morning person). ^_^

P.S. Offer Yinepu some tootsie rolls (unwrapped). ^_^

Some of the info you'd get from Tameran Wicca would probably transfer (mainly the personal gnosis regarding the Gods). The part that wouldn't transfer well would be the rituals, ritual elements, and a 4 season year. ^_^ Ellen Cannon Reed's book is a good one for presenting the Gods in a way that is well done and gives a rather good starting point (the rituals and circle stuff...not so much). ^_^ Have fun with the reading and feel free to through out questions if there's something you need/would like clarification on. ^_^

While the equinoxes would have been noted, they weren't celebrated in the same way as they'd be in paganism (i.e. there isn't reference to the light and dark halves of the year or dying/reborn god figures).

My nana always had the best saying:
"Look at your hand. Your palm is Creator and your fingers are all the paths to Creator. They all look separate, but they all stem from and go to the same place. Your pinky is no less or greater than the finger next to it."
I've always like that about the House; everyone has more or less common beliefs, but everyone is free to agree to disagree and encouraged to do so. It makes it easy for me to be a Kemetic Revivalist with Recon-sauce, a side of Blackfoot, Hindu garnishes, and a glass of Unitarian Universalist without saying that and everyone going:
O_o; <(say whaaat? You can't do that!) Hotep! That is indead an awesome saying! ^_^ Regarding the faith/culture mix....can we at least do the confused pirate squint (prior to the say whaaat.....?) ? Gotta love the confused pirate squint even if we don't have problems with the faith/culture mix.... ^_^ Senebty, Imti

Hotep Alman! *henu* Another linux (ubuntu) user here. ^_^ Just curious in regards to your upgrade mentioned? Did you mean you'll be upgrading to 10.04 next week or refering to 10.10 upgrade due out on October 10th (and planning to upgrade to 10.04 at that point)? I haven't seen any issues with 10.04 so far (run it on a netbook; laptop, and desktop without issue). Also wasn't sure if either you or Khumekitu had come across the webcast put out by Robbie Ferguson (category 5 TV at http://www.category5.tv) He covers various topics and howto's and has a rather nice script (perfect buntu) that will setup extras on your system if you don't have them to make daily use of your system more enjoyable. ^_^ Senebty, Imti

Hotep Nightfall! *henu*
It's a reference to two Godessess (truth=Ma'at) (mother=HetHert) who are honored there for what They represent (truth/what is correct, and all that means, as well as love in all it's forms and what that means). There is a great deal to think about and meditate on regarding that name and I think each person has their own interpretation of what it means to them. ^_^ Hopefully that helped a little bit.

Thanks for the interesting and thought provoking article! It'd be interesting if they found Nefertiti's tomb (not that I'd want to see it disturbed, but for what we could learn).

I don't find it disrespectful that they "use" the Egyptian Gods. Most people want to paint Wiccans with a really negative brush, but the truth of the matter is there are Wiccans who really know their stuff and aren't all fluff and light.
Just my two cents- YMMV
Hotep all! *henu* I don't think it's that people have a problem with Wicca/Wiccans in and of themselves, it's that Gods and rituals are taken out of context, with little to no research done about the purpose of the ritual or what said God/Goddess meant to the culture it is being taken from. There's nothing quite like someone coming up to you and arguing about how Bast and Sekhmet are 2 sides of the same Goddess, that Sekhmet is a crone, or that Bast is the moon Goddess or orgies where you smoke pot. Said individuals tend to be adamant that they're right. ^_^ Also gotta love the ones that haven't done any research who want to argue about what God/Goddess "X" is REALLY like cause they've done a ritual to them and they KNOW and you're just got it all wrong! ^_^ You are correct however that there are those that know their stuff, whether or not they pray to Egyptian Gods, and are accepted by the recon/indigenous religion groups out there. They just don't get much attention (they also tend to frown on the fluff bunny element and are concerned about the lack of research/Llewellynization going on in the Wiccan faith). Senebty, Imti
