Em Hotep everyone!

I thought to start a discussion on some of the unique ways we do service and volunteer in our community.

Myself? This year I will be dressing as The Baroness for The Finest G.I. Joe Costume Club for the 2017 edition of the Girls of the Finest calendar. All monies that we get from this project will be going towards a Veterans organization (still waiting on confirmation) that pairs service dogs with vets who need them.

What about you? What are some of the unique ways you do service?

Senebty!

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Have you had a laugh today?

Em Hotep everyone!

Have you had a laugh today?

I ask for several reasons; We in the Western hemisphere are starting the descent into the "dark months", where our days are shorter and we do not get as much sunlight, but there is also a significant amount of gross and ick going on at the moment.

It is important to take a moment to do something for oversells that lightens our Ka, if only for a moment, and many studies have shown that laughter is actually good for you in many ways.

So, to that end, I am going to post something that makes me laugh...

And its usually goat or sheep screams.

My sides were sore for a while afterwards.

[PUBLIC] Netjer (Our Gods & Goddesses) / Gratitude and the Gods

Em Hotep everyone!

So, I seem to be the Gratitude Priest of late, and I wanted to begin a discussion with interested folks about Gratitude and the Gods.

What does Gratitude towards or for your God(s) look like for you? Do you tell your God(s) about your gratitude for Them? Are some of Them more accepting of gratitude than others? Have some of Them mentioned gratitude to you in the past?

For my experiences; My Mother is always happy when I express gratitude towards Her, to the point where during my meditations, She will touch her forehead to mine with a smile. With me, She prefers to show me things via memories and emotion, so naturally I express my gratitude for her via ways where the emotion is present in specific situations.

What have your experiences been like?

[PUBLIC] Serving the World: Ma'at In Action / Do you Gratitude?
« on: August 18, 2015, 12:24:24 pm »
Em Hotep!

Thank you for taking the time to read over this section. For those of you who don't know me, I am Reverend Maretemheqat, daughter of my mother Heqat. I wanted to do a short post here, about something my Mother and I have been discussing over the last little while, and Her desire to bring it to you.

She's wanting me to open up some dialogue with all of you about gratitude.

Over the last week, I began to take stock of the times I have expressed gratitude towards others, like using a simple "please" and "thank you" when a situation warrants it. As I did so, I discovered that many of the times I say "please" and "Thank you", they are often said out of ritual habit and that there is no feeling of gratitude behind them. Its become a sort of robotic autonomic response.

In reflection, I'd like to start saying these words with a bit more emotion than I have been lately, in order to make sure that the person to whom I am saying them to can genuinely hear that I mean "please" and "thank you."

I'd like to invite all of you to do the same. Take stock and count how many times you say "please" and "thank you" in a given day, and note the force of emotion behind it. Was it weak? Was it empathetic? Was it something said out of habit? Did the other person respond to you? How did they respond to you? Keep these things in the back of your mind, and see where things take you.

I'd like for people to share their experiences too, if you feel comfortable doing so. I'd like to see what things people have to say about their efforts and the responses they get, both outside and inside themselves.

Let's talk about when people on the receiving end of your gratitude are not willing to accept it, or talk about finding gratitude in the most difficult of situations.

Senebty.

[PUBLIC] God(dess) Finder: Image Identifier / Ptah has a menat?
« on: September 09, 2011, 01:03:28 pm »
Hotep Folks!

I've come across several images of Ptah and I keep finding this thing at the back of Him where the head meets the neck.

http://www.kenseamedia.com/egyptian_gods/images/ptah_triad.jpg

Now there are several other images that depict Him as having this sort of thing...my only question is...

What is it?

Looks almost like a menat, but I'm not certain.

Thanks!
~Maret
