I foster with a small animal rescue. We're beyond capacity right now: we took in a hoard and had hundreds of pregnant rats on our hands. They're all sweet things - I brought home three of the mommas and all of them have given birth to around twelve apiece.

One has been transfered to another foster home, so I now have my three adults, two nursing moms, and 25 babies in my room. They are just coming to the "fun" age. I love them so much. They're a lot of work though. Hopefully we find more foster and adoptive homes soon.

Anupu, I recommend "partial" or intensive outpatient hospitalization. It is a program where you spend a day in treatment a come home at night, which cuts out the largest cost of inpatient - the room and board cost. Because partials are largely voluntary admittance, they tend to be working harder on their development, with fewer tangents caused by people who have no desire to be there. IOPs can help you find a long term therapist that will be able to better help you.

Do not take things too hard on yourself. Every day, when the sun rises, Ra has defeated A/pep and made a brand new day, Zep Tepi. Every day is your Zep Tepi, and a chance to overcome this. We believe in you!

The questionnaire serves as a stand-in for you on the RPD shrine. It is a formal statement of intention, offered to the Akhu and Netjeru.

It's also an opportunity for introspection. It gets your brain going on things that you maybe haven't thought too hard about. In answering the questions you may find out you are not ready. You may also find out that you are more ready than you believed.

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Re: Kemetic Calendar Help
« on: May 30, 2016, 08:13:22 pm »
whoa I thought it was on the 30th opps, okay!

Independent Kemetics and other temples calculate it based on different locations than us! I actually think my friend Aubrey is a whole two weeks ahead of us!

Also, when you say III Shomu 2, do you mean Great Festivity in the Holy Places, or did I misinterpret that terribly?

That festival was last month, on II Shomu 22. :) Today, there are no holidays.

The year is divided into three seasons: Akhet ("heat"), Peret ("growing"), and Shomu ("harvest"). They are the seasons refer to the agricultural cycle in Kemet. As Anupu shared, the seasons are divided into four months each, which we either refer to by number (III Shomu, or the third month of Shomu), or by their names (which varied by historical period/region).

The months are each four weeks ("decans") long, and the decans are ten days long. This leads to a 360 day year, with 5 "intercalary days" (or six this year, because leap year).

Hemet is actually writing a book on the calendar right now. One of the perks for backing her book on Kickstarter is a yearly PDF calendar with the festivals as calibrated for the temple. She still allows new backers, so if you contact her via email, I'm sure she'll let you know how to do that!

This post by the Wesir Richard Reidy on another forum describes how to calculate the date.

Kemetic Orthodoxy calculates Wep Ronpet based on the location of Tawy House. That makes Wep Ronpet on August 3rd. Today is 30 May, or III Shomu 2, or Epiphi 2.

It's been a delight to watch you grow happier and happier on Facebook. I look forward to seeing more of you here :)

Feel free to reach out to me on facebook, tumblr, or the boards if you'd like to talk about this.

There's been a lot of discussion around the 'net lately about the Rite of Parent Divination! I'd love to have some more discussions here, as a resource for current and future members who are considering the RPD.

  • What does the RPD mean to you?
  • Why did or didn't you choose to take the RPD?

I personally utilize Sacramento and Boston's many local flowing waters in my Kemetic practice. For me, they embody similar spirits as the Nile, bringing life to those regions.
