Em hotep and welcome! Putting in my 2 cents as a fan of Wahtye's tomb. :)

Oh! That poor man, I found myself crying watching the documentary.

Hello and welcome!

It’s incredible when Netjer first start to really make themselves known. It will be exciting to see where this adventure will lead. Perhaps a specific Horus will reveal himself? I am far from an expert but off the top of my head there is Horeus the Elder (Heru-Wer), Horus the younger, (Heru-as-Aset, and even Ra-Horakhty.

I’ve only recently started to talk to Heru-Wer but I’m sure more Horus devotees and “fans” will pop in to say hello!

Thank you Sedjfai! It has been bugging me for days trying to remember that cats name. Our fluffy girl is currently in our hall (cremated) surrounded by fresh lilies, with her favourite fishy toy. Once her urn (cat shaped!) arrives we might find her a sunny spot in the garden. It’s not a grand sarcophagus but I think she’d have liked it.

Thank you to everyone for your replies, particularly to Padjaiemweru. Your response was very comforting and cleared things up for me. Figaro's ashes came back to us today and she's waiting in her temporary box with some lilies next to her. We'll be transferring her to a cat shaped urn when it arrives, so she can sit in the garden and enjoy basking in the sunshine like she used to.

I recently lost one of my precious cats and am having a hard time with the grief. I've been looking through the forum looking for prayers and other stuff that might help. I saw somebody mention that pets cannot be part of our akhu but become netjeri. Does anyone have any more info on this? Once we get her ashes back, we're putting her in a special cat-shaped urn and I'd like to be able to give her the appropriate prayers and offerings.

Welcome! I shall hopefully be joining you in the beginners class. It's taken me twelve years but I've finally applied  ;D

Sandalwood is currently my go to incense. One day I might start experimenting with different scents for different Netjer but, for now, sandalwood instantly puts me in a devotional headspace

That’s interesting about Sekhmet, Amarantheia! I wonder if She’ll crop up as I dig deeper into this.

On a more random note, I watch a TV show with my toddler called Tinga Tinga Tales. It’s a cartoon depicting traditional African tales about animals. Why the leopard is spotted, why coyote howls at the moon (he wants moooon honey!). Yesterday’s tale, which came on as I was discussing this thread with my better half, was...can you guess? Why peacock has such a beautiful tail! In the show, it was depicted as a rainbow tail. Very sweet.

So, I actually decided to do some googling and, obviously, things need verifying and/or taking with a pinch of salt. However, I found the following quote very interesting:

“Of all the birds, the peacock most resembles the traditional description of the phoenix. The phoenix is the legendary bird of resurrection that is sacrificed in the fires of life and then rises from the flames out of its own ashes. As a reflection of the phoenix, the peacock was often associated with immortality and re-birth, and considered sacred by many cultures and religions, including the Greek, Egyptian, Chinese, Christian and Hindu.

.....In Egypt the bird was linked to the worship of the sun god, Amon-Ra and associated with the all-seeing eye of Horus.”

I got this off a reflexology site so will look into it further tomorrow. In the meantime, din dins calls me!

A few weeks ago, I had an earworm. It was the word iryt. No idea why but I kept saying it over and over to myself. Later in the day I was walking to the shops, when the image of Ra as a huge golden peacock came into my mind. On his tail were all the goddesses who serve as his eyes. I can’t get the image out of my head.

I know that there’s no historical link between Ra and peacocks but has anyone else made this connection? Ive no idea what it means but I’m sure it will become clear eventually.

Fantastic reply ^^ Padjaiemweru! I often forget patience is usually the best remedy. I have been floating around these boards for over twelve years and have had to dismantle my shrine numerous times. I’d say it hasn’t had much of a negative impact on my journey.

I'm not a member of the house and so do not speak for them. I did notice that you say your parents live with you. Do you own the home your are living in or are at least responsible for paying rent?
If yes, then surely your parents should respect your religious choices (mental health problems or no - I have had trouble as well). If they are under your roof then they should abide by your rules?
I'm probably opening up a huge can of worms for you here. It's just that I had parents who disrespected my choices and my rules even once I had moved into my own home. It's very frustrating to have to dance to other peoples tune, especially regarding something as important as your spiritual path.
