Em hotep and welcome!  We came from similar roots.  :)  Looking forward to getting to know you!

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Re: When things go wrong..

When I shared a drink with Mom in my first Senut, I was so nervous I choked on it.  Nothing like the pleasant sensation of orange juice in your sinuses to make you feel like a real pro!  *laughs at herself*

I've lost track of how many times I've knocked things over.  I'm a total klutz at the best of times.  *facepalm*  Mostly I just apologize for the technical difficulties, try to laugh it off, and give thanks that my Family already knew I was so darn clumsy before They made Themselves known to me.

I've noticed this too. However, once I was in shrine... going on and on and on.. and he told me to shut up and get on with things lol. It was interesting.

*laughs*  Yeah, there's been a few times where I've just rambled on and on and on, gushing about Him and the rest of my Family, and suddenly I've gotten the odd feeling that He's just standing there, tapping His foot with His arms crossed over His chest, with a very "Are you done yet?" look on His face.  It's been a very powerful lesson in learning when to cut to the chase.  ;)

*giggles*  Yeah, Mom is pretty spiderlike when She hangs around.  Usually it's only the scorpion when I'm in trouble.  ;)

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Re: Where do you buy Statues?

Adding the shoutout for Nicolas at Shadow of the Sphinx on Etsy.  His prices are very reasonable, turnaround time is great, and he's such a pleasant and sweet person to deal with.  It's not hard to tell he has a very emotional attachment to his work and there's a lot of pride and TLC in his pieces.  He's made four statues for me already and I just adore them:

Djehuty -
Satet -
Heru-Wer -
Set -

Etsy is a really neat place to find random things as well, actually.  I bought my incense holder (made from reclaimed wood from a piano!) and there's a great store that sells handmade vegan incense that smells divine, burns really clean, and lasts forever.  ^_^

I had a feeling Set would show up in my Family - He is very vocal with me and makes His presence very much known.

My experiences with Him have been similar to what others have described.  He is forceful with me, but never cruel.  He pushes me to be better, to move past bad experiences, to learn from mistakes, to keep going.  He does not tolerate my weakness - not that He doesn't allow it, but that He will not let me dwell on it.  He is the brute strength that drags me kicking and screaming out of my bouts of depression and feelings of helplessness and He won't take no for an answer.  The quote in my signature is from Him, as well, from one of the most personal and powerful experiences I have had with Him.

From my own experience, asking Him what He wants of me has never been a bad thing.  He's never been quiet about His intentions like some of my other Beloveds have been, and when He's in the mood He seems to almost enjoy chatting (though some of that may be berating me for being mopey).

On a personal note, He and Satet are a regular tag team as well.  She is as intolerant of my bouts of misery as He is, and They are quite happy to broadcast Their displeasure.

Overall, I just think He is spectacular, like Everyone I have encountered thus far!  He is powerful, beautiful, incredible, and having Him in my Family has been an experience and a half.  :)

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Re: RPD Spectator?
« on: September 24, 2011, 01:32:10 am »
Quote from: Avonell

A blind man encounters the House of Netjer, and adopts the faith as his own. After much contemplation and many months as a Remetj, he approaches the Nisut (AUS).

"Hemet," he says, "I think I am ready. I would like to go forth with my RPD and become a Kemetic Orthodox Shemsu."

She does not turn him down just because he cannot watch the shells fall. Hemet still preforms the rite, the divination still occurs, and she tells him of his Divine Family.

You and I are like this blind man: though we do not see the shells fall, Tamara does, and she tells us what the result was. The internet (or phoneline) itself is not the source of the magic: the geomancy itself is. Hemet simply relays the end result to us, be that textually or audibly.

*many many thumbs up*
