[PUBLIC] Netjer (Our Gods & Goddesses) / Re: What are they like?

This one is for my Mother, Serqet-Aset.

1) What is the most interesting experience with Serqet?

The day I had my RPD, I sat down at my shrine and talked to Mom as my mother for the first time.  She was quiet for quite a while (or perhaps drowned out by the noise of my rowdy Beloveds), and I was suddenly struck with the desire to find a pen and a notebook.  After I'd found them and returned to my shrine, Her voice came loud and clear:  "This is The List.  These are the poisons.  We are going to remove all of them."  I spent the next two hours writing a list of all of the toxic things in my life, things that She felt needed to go.  We still go over the list every time I do Senut, and now that the easy ones are done, we're working on how to tackle the more difficult items.

2) How do they communicate with you? (Through emotions, "coincidences," voices, etc )

Mom doesn’t speak that much, but when She does, it’s because She REALLY wants me to listen.  Mostly She is a presence, a sensation over my shoulder that She is there, watching what I do, keeping an eye on me, making sure I’m okay.  Not in the coddling mother sort of way, but more of the “be strong, I’m here, I have you” way.

3) If syncretized, does one Name seem stronger or more influential than the other? If aspected, do you ever get any impressions/feelings from the "flip-side" of this Netjer?

Though I am a daughter of Serqet-Aset, I only ever see Mom as Serqet.  I’ve interacted with Aset at Senut, but while She is absolutely incredible, She doesn’t feel like my Mother.

4) Have you ever personally witnessed or experienced this Netjeru interacting with another Netjeru?

Mom tends to sort of stay out of things, if that makes sense.  I interact with most of my lineup during Senut, but She will come separately and at the end of my time with Them, and we’ll sit together for a while.

5) How does _____ influence your life? (Words to motivate you, things "fall into place," a swift kick in the rear when you need it, etc)

Mom is very much into Her tough love.  I am very much prone to my moments of weakness and She is very quick to knock me back onto the path.  She is mostly there when I feel overwhelmed or inundated, either with work or issues in my personal life, and will pick me up by the scruff of my neck, kick me in the butt, and tell me to get over myself and keep moving.  Never in a cruel way, mind you, but definitely in a “there is no time for this nonsense” sort of way.

However, when I need Her to just be there, She is very much a comfort to me.  I am prone to horrific panic attacks and crippling anxiety, and She is not rough or harsh on me at those times.  Instead, She is the exact opposite, providing the comforting presence that I need until I can pull myself back together enough to keep moving.

She has definitely awakened the “guardian” side of me.  My name means “Serqet Protects” and it is absolutely true.  Having Her so strongly in my life has made me fiercely protective of the ones I love and the goals that I work toward, and She has strengthened my ambition and given me drive and determination to see things through to the end because I know that She is there to back me up.  Having Serqet as a Mom is kind of like feeling you have your own personal army behind you.  :)

Thank you for this fantastic thread!  I've been wanting to get to know Hethert for a while and this will definitely help put me on the right track for offerings.  :D

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Re: Parents, Beloveds, and offerings
« on: July 29, 2011, 06:27:44 pm »
When I do Senut, I make sure I have something for Mom (Serqet) that I'm not offering to Anybody else, and I'll have something that I'm offering to the whole Family.  More often than not, a really nice glass of a citrus juice (Mom loves orange juice, and if I do Senut in the evening, she loves a good Sex on the Beach cocktail!) for Mom and a handful of dark chocolate pieces for Her and Everyone else.

If I'm looking for help, inspiration, or assistance from one of my Beloveds, I will offer to Mom first, then to the Beloved I have in mind, then a small offering to the rest of the Family.

It's not because I feel I HAVE to, or that I'm afraid They'll be upset with me if I don't give to Everyone, it's just personal choice.  I came from a spitey family that would exclude people from giftgiving and celebration for no reason, so when it comes to my family, Netjer or otherwise, I always try to include EVERYONE possible.  :)

Besides... They like Their chocolate.  ;)

Well you already know (or I hope you do) how happy I am to see you doing something you're interested in, and how happy I am to see you here!  *big hugs*  Everyone here is really awesome, and they don't bite too hard.  ;)

PS.  *squeeeeeeee!*

That shop looks totally awesome!  :D

They really are!  The people who run it are super nice and extremely prompt with responses and shipping - guaranteed I'll be buying from them in the future!  I have a few friends who have bought their soaps and they say they're divine.

*grins*  Thank you!  Her name's Samael, she's my little girl and one of my two rescues.  :)  She's an odd-looking thing (half-Siamese half-Netjer-knows-what) but she has TONS of personality.

I'm a little late to the party here, but this is a great place I found for incense - on Etsy, no less!

Green Ritual

The sticks are handmade, 100% organic vegan incense.  30 sticks for about $6, and the burn time is fantastic on them (I get about 3.5 hours per).  I ordered the Sandalwood and Vanilla and the fragrances are just beautiful.

They also sell lovely soy candles, which I think will be my next impulse buy on Etsy...

Sometimes healing doesn't mean it goes away, it just means that you accept yourself along with your faults and learn to work through the hard times.

Truer words have never been spoken.

I remember when my little sister came out - I was the first person she told, and I remember how scared she was that I would ridicule her, or worse, that I wouldn't love her anymore.

I can think of no greater act of personal strength than the decision to stand up and be who you are meant to be.  When you live in a world where people are forced to fit into a mold for every aspect of their life, the courage to say "I WILL NOT" is simply amazing and inspiring.  Thank you so much for sharing.  :)

My parents had a less than favorable reaction to learning they had a mentally ill daughter - it's only now, years and years later, that I'm learning my mother's reaction was less anger at me than it was ignorance and the fear that she had somehow "made" me like this.  Mind you, all my attempts to teach her that I'm not "broken" have ended in disaster thus far.  :(

Websites and organizations like this are so valuable!  The ability to educate oneself is so often the difference between life going on as it always has, and someone having to live with the burden of another's guilt and anger.

And Baket, I have to agree with you immensely - the "pill for everything" approach is so overdone it's ridiculous!

I quite like living in BC - it's big, it's beautiful, rains a bit much but overall it's nice.  I do miss the quiet of the smaller cities sometimes, and noticed it especially when I visited St. John's in July (for the George Street Festival whoo!), but overall it's a cool province.  Expensive, though (or maybe I just don't make enough money ;) ).

You can never have enough Maritimers!  :D

Ha, Niti, I was going to say that agonizing was a bad way to put it, but perhaps the most honest.  :)

Khumekitu - I'm actually from Newfoundland originally, so I think the other end of the country is just as (if not more) fab.  :D

The silly purr-faced little brat in my icon is Samael, aka. Sami, aka. Princess Fussypants.  She's the baby girl of my two rescues, and I'm sure Niti can attest that she looks just as strange in person.  ;)  I'll be sure to pass on the nice comments about her, though she really doesn't need the ego boost!

*happy dance*
