[PUBLIC] Prayer Requests / My mom and her dog
« on: December 07, 2017, 03:16:50 pm »
My mom's dog, who is her whole world, has a rare auto immune blood disorder and is in the vets. My mom is not handling this well.
I'd like to request prayers for both their healing and safety.

« on: August 22, 2017, 10:22:21 am »
So after years of wanting to have tubal ligation surgery I am having it on Thursday at 8 am. So far things are going well. I just have to get all my school work caught up and ready before Thursday. That is really more concerning then the Surgery!
So prayers for my health and successful school completion please!

This seems like it would be a common name in AE but for the life of me I cannot figuire it out. I'm trying to translate/transliterate
"Amun Protects Me " I've found a few clues, I know how to spell Amun and I've found 2 different ways to say/write protect.
I know there is a shemsu named Asetbesai
translated and as "Aset nurtures/protects me" so would it then be Amunbesai? And how would that be written out? I'll make a donation to the house same as I did for my shemsu name translation if someone can help me?

[PUBLIC] Prayer Requests / For my sister
« on: November 03, 2016, 12:46:21 pm »
If anyone could spare the time and pray for my sister Natalie, who is going through an incredibly hard time right now, and might even need to be hospitalized for her depression it would mean so much.
Thank you all

Em hotep!

I've been looking for good books, biographies, scholarly works, just anything a bit more  in depth and weighty then the kids books I've found on Ramesses II/the great. I saw his name in a cartouche in a dream, so I've been meaning to look into it.
Any recommendations?

« on: July 11, 2016, 11:51:29 am »
Em hotep!

This summer has been incredibly hard on my family, my spouse decided to nor do summer courses for his phd, and that was our main source of income. I've been applying for a job at any place hiring since may, but nothing so far. Things are pretty sure right now money wise and just some prayers to help, just anything, would be so appreciated

[PUBLIC] Prayer Requests / Prayers for going back to school
« on: January 06, 2016, 09:25:22 am »
My partner is going for his Phd at Penn state, and because I'm disabled this is our only source of income. Last fall he had to take out an advance from the school. He now has a hold on his records and needs it gone by Monday or else he can not attend. It's an 800$ hold and we have about 150. We've applied for credit cards and have asked family. The last ditch is selling back a life insurance policy. We really don't want to do that.
So just prayers that this will get sorted in time, that something will come through.

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Non blood related akhu?
« on: August 09, 2015, 11:42:57 am »
So for akhu veneration is it only those related to you by blood/marriage? Or do adopted family count ex: your dad's best friend who you call "uncle leo" your whole life and are close too.
What about close friends? Maybe your best friend passes. Can you venerate them as akhu?

[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Making Kapet Incense without wine?
« on: July 21, 2015, 10:33:49 pm »
So after successfully making natron I'm ready to start making incense per the recipe in the prayer book.
The only snag is that I don't have wine. I do have really nice grape juice. Could that work?

[PUBLIC] Netjer (Our Gods & Goddesses) / Accidental Bad offering?
« on: June 03, 2015, 08:48:13 am »
The other day I had gone for a short walk/wheel around and on my way found what looked like the prettiest little flowers. They were purple and 5 pointed star shaped with yellow stamin things. It smelled nice enough so I took a small bunch.
I got home and placed them on my alter and prayed.
Some days later I finally find out what those pretty flowers were.
They were bittersweet nightshade.
As in nightshade the incredibly poisonous plant.
Now I have removed the flowers and disposed of them for safety (I have pets) but I'm worried that I could have offended Netjer with that offering.
Is that possible?
Or is it OK because I had no idea and it came from a place of love on my part?

I was wondering if there are any good solid books members can recommend that come in a format such as kindle/nook/pdf?
It seems a lot of books are only available in hard/soft covers and some at a steep price for those who may  be struggling. Also an ebook version would allow for text size adjustment or screen readers as an accessability option.
I saw that a lot of the "official" KO books are printed at lulu. Is there an option for digital copies?

From what I have picked up on so far making things easily accessible  to the poor/disabled would uphold Ma'at and br pleasing to the names?

[PUBLIC] Prayer Requests / Prayer for my Beloved Cat
« on: May 09, 2015, 02:35:59 am »
My older male cat is having urinary tract problems again and right now. He is my most beloved and has helped me through so very much. We think we caught it early because he is still eating and drinking but of course I'm still very scared.
Thank you all so much!

[PUBLIC] Welcome! / Excited, possibly over enthusiastic newbie!
« on: May 03, 2015, 04:42:41 pm »
Hi!/Em hotep (did I do that right?)

I'm Noof. I'm 28 and I'm new here and very excited!

I have been in love be with the Netjer since I was a child and would go to the Egyptian exhibit in the Carnegie. My first book I wrote in first grade (I was still doing backwards h's) was about Bastet and Sekhmet (I think they were guarding a jewel from bad guys? )
I spent about 15 years as a Buddhist with extensive zazen (seated meditation) experience.
I have recently refelt the call of the Netjer
I know most of this will be answered in the intro class in June, but in the meantime what are some appropriate ways to contact/honor the netjer?
I don't want to spend a month developing "bad habits"!
I found some books by Judith Paige called "invoking/pathworking with the Egyptian gods" (used 2 for 1 deal)
I also believe I read that during the beginners course you should focus on worshipping/getting to know a wide range of deities.
So in the meantime should I just start with that it focus for now in the ones that pulled/lead me here?

So very many questions!
Thank you for all your patience!
