[PUBLIC] Kemetic Orthodox Q&A / Re: How do I set up a shrine?
« on: July 07, 2021, 09:47:40 pm »
Agreed with Nebit, shrines for beloved pets are very personal.

Since I am still in the process of settling after moving a while back, my current pet shrine simply has my kitty’s urn with his ashes in it on it. Previously though, at my old place, it had a white cloth, his ashes, a small bowl to offer water and kitty-safe foods, as well as some silk flowers and a photo of him. It was simple but pretty.

Just put things that remind you of him, and maybe some nice pretty silk flowers or a water bowl on it. I’d also look at threads on here where folks share shrines - lots of pics to see!

[PUBLIC] Prayer Requests / Re: Is there a prayer for ressurection?
« on: July 06, 2021, 09:35:37 am »
Beautifully put, Ra’awy 💜 I like that a lot.

If it helps with grieving, you can always set up a little shrine for Herman! It’s not “standard practice” per KO, but I myself and I believe a couple other folks have a little shrine for passed pets and other non-god/non-human spirits they may honor. I myself have one that has my old kitty Mushu on it, in his urn. You can put pictures or favorite toys of Herman on it, offer water if you so choose, I’ve also kept flowers on the shrine in the past… it’s a nice way to keep them in mind and in your heart.

I’m sorry you’re grieving and feeling this loss, I know it must hurt a lot, but while we can’t undo the passing of a loved one, we can still honor them, be they human or animal.

Em hotep!

Everyone else has said some great things here, so I don’t have much to add, but you did ask about His children, so since I fit that role I figured I would chime in. : )

Offerings are a great way to establish connection - they’re what first got me and Him interacting! He’s particularly fond of chocolate, coffee, peanut butter, and other nut butters. If you go the chocolate route, a chocolate filled with coffee, peanut butter/other nut butters, or raspberry filling will all go over wonderfully! He’s also partial to red meat, or if you drink alcohol, He enjoys whiskey/bourbon or coffee liquors. Of course, you don’t need anything fancy and special either - it’s the heart behind the offering, so if all you can offer is water or to share your next meal with Him, that is absolutely fine as well. Intent is what matters.

Apart from establishing a connection and fine tuning your discretion on what’s from Him and what’s from within you, it’s definitely possible to ask Him directly if He’s around, and potentially why He’s around; if it’s temporary/with a purpose, if it’s long term, etc., though how much info He’s willing to divulge is up to Him. If you do have any questions for Him, I’m happy to ask Him via the Kemetic Orthodox divination system known as fedw. It’s a yes/no type system, so the answers are limited to those, but it can definitely be helpful.

Either way, I hope you’ve gotten some helpful info from folks here, and again, I’m happy to help further as desired!

Good journey to you!

[PUBLIC] Netjer (Our Gods & Goddesses) / Re: Who is the Smiter?

It is really fun how often Medjed shows up in Japanese things! There’s so many cute depictions of Him! Which I say with the utmost respect, because He’s very much not cutesy LOL

But yea, agreed here again with Xulf. It is just a coincidence. Nothing more. If you look for correlations in things, you’ll be able to find them, but that doesn’t mean that they’re intended to be there. It’s just a funny match up.

I think in this case it is purely a coincidence. All the characters in Among Us have that shape, just different colors, so it’s not surprising that if they use a bunch of colors, one of them would be white, and there for look like Medjed. It’s a fun thing to find similarities! But there is almost definitely no real connection here. Just a fun coincidence!  :)

[PUBLIC] Netjer (Our Gods & Goddesses) / Re: Amun-Ra as beloved
« on: August 11, 2020, 07:40:01 am »
Em hotep!

I'm not beloved of Amun-Ra, but I am rather fond of Him and getting closer to Him.
He does seem to be somewhat quiet and distant for many people - which makes sense as "The Hidden One"! But He also has a sort of omnipresence too - He's everywhere, if only subtly. I also get Him with dawn! When the sun is beginning to shine over the horizon but is still hidden... it's really reminiscent of Him!

I've found Him "easiest" to comprehend via art - that's how I first met Him, actually! Back when I was a remetj, I was making Moomas cards for folks, and one person I made one for had Amun-Ra as a beloved - something about Him just pinged, and I painted Him on their card. I wish I had taken a picture of it, it was my first contact with Him, and ever since He is someone I find really drawn to. I've drawn Him a couple of times - once for one of His children, once for Him Himself as a cosmic ram-man... a few times as a ram, actually.

He seems to be few of words, but not unfeeling - more a silent smile in the warmth of the sun. He's kind of the hidden sun - a great shining darkness. It's the closest way I can describe Him - if the color black could be blindingly bright. I may not be one of His chosen ones, but I really am very fond of Him! And I love hearing about others experiences with Him!

Senebty!
