"So I looked around and I noticed there wasn't a chair."

Hi.  I'm Renee.  I'm an artist in rural NJ who's enrolled in this upcoming beginner's class.  *waves*

I think, like a lot of people here, I've been in love with Egypt forever. I was raised...I think secular Christian is the term for it.  We did Christmas, Easter, watched the Charlton Heston movies, and kept bibles in the house, but that was it.  No church, no affiliation, no baptism/communion, etc.  Apparently to be Sicilian and NOT be born & bred a hardcore catholic is unheard of, but whatevs.
My parents are really laid back and liberal, and didn't want to push God on us.  Mercifully  ;)
I had been kind of aimlessly exploring goddess spirituality already, but when in college I took a class on Ancient Religion, it kind of went off like a lightbulb/alarm/epiphany type-thing.

I've been practicing in the solitary, unorganized, figure-it-out-as-you-go-along type way, which is what drew me here to begin with.  Unlike so many other of my peers, I never experienced anything resembling organized religion, and I kind of craved the structure!  I honestly LIKE the idea of a "right" way to pray, kneel, offer, etc.

But Netjer has been a HUGE influence on me, yes, but especially my art (my site is in my signature, but I don't pimp it...I guess I kind of am, now...).  I can't wait to learn, and to get to know you all.  I have bajillions of questions, but I can't think of any right now.

finally, I'm a little behind on some of the Kemetic words/terms, so be patient with me if I don't understand everything being said.

Ok, this is long enough!

thanks for reading!

You're behind on Kemetic terms?!  Shame!  Shaaame!  Seriously, though, don't worry about that and don't be afraid to ask if you have questions :)

Hotep Renee and welcome :)

We do have a Kemetic Terms list here at http://www.kemet.org/terms_list.html

...which will also be posted to the Beginners list for reference.

But as always if anyone is not sure about any terms used around here, just ask.

And it is perfectly ok to NOT use Kemetic terms too.
