Listed as Isis
« on: December 21, 2011, 12:31:01 pm »
I came across this the other day when I was looking for a replacement pendant for Mom and thought I'd share it.  It's listed as Isis but it's definitely got an Aset promanence about it.  I'm just curious about what look like Khonsu's horns, as I've never seen Mom depicted like that.  But Who else would be flanked by winged cobras?

I had a pendant like that once and Hemet told me it was possibly an image of one of the Ptolemies.

That crown is similar to the one called "atef."

Tekeni reminds me about Arsinoe II. Check out this article with its accompanying photo:

And here is an article by Maria Nilsson, who has been studying Arsinoe II:

Em Hotep and thank you.  Both links were interesting to read.  And Mom wasn't mentioned once.  So it's definitely Not Her.  Though with it being of a female pharaonic individual that explains the mistaken identity.

Sedjemes, I am curious as to why you say this is like the atef. It's missing the hedjet, and the feathers on the side. As well as the addition of the sun disk/horns, the horns and the vulture. It's really something, I've never seen this one before....

Just curious on the similarities, maybe I'm just missing them.

Isis with Horns - is an old motif. She assimilated into many roles of Hathor, Isis's headdress is replaced with that of Hathor's: the horns of a cow on her head, with the solar disk between them. Sometimes she also was represented as a cow, or a cow's head. This was seen moreso in the later periods.
