Sekhmet?
« on: June 02, 2012, 04:57:54 pm »
Hotep!

My cousin found this in our favorite spiritual supply store where she lives, and it is labeled as Sekhmet.. I've never seen Her like this before and wondered if anyone knows Who specifically this is? Tefnut was suggested earlier, but I'd like to find out for sure.

Maybe Sekhmet-Mut or Bast-Mut? I get a Mut-y vibe. ^_^

I think it's Bast-Mut, myself, but that might just be the blues.

Because of the Double Crown, I'd say that's Sekhmet-Mut.  It could also be Bast-Mut too.

I want it too.

Em hotep!

A double crown on a Leonine female Deity is most probably Mut. If you want to parse it down to whether it is Bast-Mut or Sekhmet-Mut, the glyphs can be helpful as well as the shape of the ears. A quick and dirty guide on Leonine deities is as follows:

Rounded Ears = Sekhmet
Pointed Ears = Bast
Squared Ears = Tefnut

Unless of course the glyphs say otherwise, which means you should go with that. If it just says, "Mut" then view it how you will. ;)

I can get a picture of the glyphs a little later on. Since it is in Montana (and I am in Indiana) any sort of poking around with it has to be done by my cousin. It's still at the store, so she'll stop by and take a picture of it for us (hopefully) tonight.
