A Wonderful Game
« on: February 24, 2013, 07:23:08 am »
I have Played a game off and on for years, and I have come to really appreciate all the effort the developers put into this work. It teaches about Ancient Kemet at the same time as entertaining you. It is a slower paced game in comparison to its competitor Pharaoh(also a fun game). Has anyone else played it?

Never played it, but can you tell me a bit more about it perhaps? What type of game is it, and what do you do in the game?

I've played it! It's an old one LoL Now I'm tempted to put it back on the computer....right now I'm playing Pyramid Age (I think it's called) for the Android. Similar, but not educational. Still fun!

I love Children of the Nile! It's so addicting, but I can never beat a game to completion. I also end up starting a new game to try and one-up myself.

I got it on release :-) It and its expansion are still on my PC, as is the original Pharaoh (and Caesar games...)

Taryt, it's a city building game where you are given a set of goals, depending on which difficulty you play. These can range from conquest of surrounding areas on a world map, to building monuments. It's quite a slow game, but fairly detailed.

I've had it for a few years now and always found it challenging for me, no matter how often I would make it.

Pharaoh is most likely the easiest to get in to, however it may require a bit of playing with speed settings to get it to behave nicely with more modern systems due to the age of the game.

You can get it for $4.99 for the game and expansion from GoG   here

Children of the Nile is the more in depth, and more modern game.  You can buy it on Steam for (probably) around $10, since Steam only shows me UK prices :-)

You can see the store front   here , but be aware it will also require registering and downloading the steam client too.
