January Beginners Course Applicants...?
« on: January 12, 2014, 08:54:48 pm »
The email I received when I submitted my application for the January beginners course stated that I'd hear from them before the 12th...er, well, it's the 12th and I (and one other person I know of) haven't heard from anybody about the applications.

Does anyone know if this means I wasn't accepted, or if they're just behind?

(I'm very sorry if this question comes off as rude, I'm just very anxious and not knowing is difficult for me.)

Em Hotep Mylo, I also applied and received the same email. No word yet on this end either!

I was worried about that before I heard from the priests as well. DO NOT WORRY. You will hear back from someone within a week, I'm very sure. xD

Not to worry, Traveler. The acceptance letters have not gone out yet. I'm pretty sure Rev. Parsons or another teaching priest will make an announcement when they do go out, just to make sure they didn't miss anybody. :-)

Em Hotep Senushemi - thank you for shedding even more light. I've got to believe that when the prospective students feel particularly drawn by the Netjeru, they can be pretty annoying with their anxiousness to start. I'm grateful for your patience!

That is so very true Traveler!
I've been pushed so hard to come learn that the anxious waiting is so hard.

Thank you very much for the update!

I remember when I took the Beginner's Class, and I was anxious too. And I only had to wait a couple of weeks from the time I sent in my application, my timing was just right. :D

Life in Egypt is a bit slower than here in the US where we want it all and we want it NOW. (heh) There's a saying: Mumkin Bukra Insh'allah - Maybe tomorrow, God willing. There's much less urgency for getting things done from their perspective.

It's nice to hear that you're all so excited, though. Hemet (AUS) just moved a week or two ago so things are indeed a bit backed up. I'll make sure to post here as soon as I know anything, okay? Promise. :-)

Em Hotep!

I have been reading the Egyptian Prayer Book while waiting to learn if I have been accepted into the Beginners Class. I just finished today!

Any recommendations of other books I could read while waiting to see if I've been accepted? Anything that would help me be prepared?

I'm very much looking forward to the classes!

Red Land, Black Land by Barbara Mertz is a well-written and accessible text to give a sense what life was like for the remetj in Kemet "back in the day."

It also depends on what kind of information you want.

First book I read about the subject was "Religion and Ritual in ancient Egypt" by Emily Teeter. It's an excellent book and I find it well written, it tells a lot about how things were back then, how priests worked and how remetj practiced their religion. :)

Edit on Topic:
I too am waiting for the application letters, and my own nervosity had made me send a letter to the Rev. The answer invovled the explaination that the last Beginners Class was delayed and still not over on January the 13th. Also she told me that everyone recieves an letter to check if everyone still wants to join / still is available to the internet.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has been worrying! ^_^;
