Ancient Prayers in Kemetic; need help
« on: June 29, 2014, 11:50:59 pm »
I need some help here with finding more prayers written in the Ancient Egyptian (Kemetic) language. I'm putting together a prayer book and I would like to include more prayers in the Kemetic language.

Em hotep

If you mean original prayers written back in the time of the Pharaohs, many are available only in translations of current languages. In their original form they would be written in hieroglyphs, not in transliteration, and would not be easily readable. These are generally available, if at all, only in scholarly institutions not to the general public.

Some hymns to Aset from Philae have been translated by Louis Zabkar and appear in both hieroglyph and translated form. His book is not easy to find however.

Also note that if you are using prayers translated by others, you do run into potential copyright infringement if you have not received explicit permission for each and every one.
