Pets in the Duat?
« on: April 28, 2015, 11:03:48 pm »
I searched the forum but didn't find a topic like this, but I could have been using the wrong terms- my apologies if something like this already exists.

I'm wondering what KO believes about pets/animals in the afterlife? I've been thinking about it since my boyfriend's dog passed away in the recent house fire he had. What beliefs does KO have on animal souls, are they brought into the Duat as well?

Thank you for reading and any answers you might give, I just found myself extremely curious about the topic and wanting to know more from other members.

They become netjeri.  A catch all term for non-human, non-divine discarnate spirits.  It incorporates more than deceased animals, but includes that too.

I googled more and did more research about what netjeri are/do and it appears to me that they go directly to the Duat because they don't have free will like humans do, according to what I read. There's no real role to them that I've seen, they merely become spirits in the Duat like the rest of us.

In the religion, figures such as Ammit and the Four Sons of Heru are Netjeri.

There are important netjeri in KO such as Ammit and the Four Sons of Heru. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong anyone, just some stuff I came across while googling I'm sure someone is more knowledgable!

I have had many experences with my fur-kids who have passed on, so my personal belief on this matter is it is more likely the animals have a choice to come or stay as they please.
