Hello all and first experiences
« on: June 27, 2015, 08:56:27 pm »
Hi, nice to meet everyone ^.^

My name is Rex, 20 and from York, England, and I've uh, actually just finished the beginners class.... heh.... I've been lurking on the boards for ages, trying to pick a moment to introduce myself. I guess I've been nervous about taking the plunge and getting involved, I've been a bit the same with Netjeru as well :/ I have no previous experience with worship, and my worrys about the legitimacy of it all and whether I'd be able to keep it up were stopping me, I think.

Earlier today, though, I was reading about the experiences of others on this forum, and was inspired to just try and ease myself into it. I sat in front of a little makeshift shrine I have and tried to just relax and reach out..... and the response I got wasn't really what I expected.
I think I was scolded, actually - told firmly to remove one of the necklaces I was wearing while before Netjer; accompanied by a vivid image of the offending item. The item in question is a bronze goat skull pendant, with an inverted pentagram in the centre of its forhead - kind of a leftover of my rebellious occult obsession years, that I keep wearing without really thinking about it.... Of course I removed it straight away, and put it out of sight, kind of embarrassed that I wouldn't think to take it off myself.... even if this was a spur-of-the-moment session. After taking it off though and apologising, I felt much more at peace than before..... like a kind of weight had lifted from me. (And then like straight after I found an unused itunes voucher from ages ago, that was probably a coincidence tho XD)

I guess that might have been a way of telling me to let go of my misconceptions and things in the past that were holding me back from communicating.... I mean, I don't know if this was entirely legitimate contact, but it gave me motivation to finally post on these boards and share my experience with the rest of the community so, that's at least something positive.

Funny how things work out, I guess

Em Hotep! It sounds like you had a good learning experience. I think that you will find with patience, practice and an open heart/mind things will flow more smoothly. I still get scolded, I think everyone does from time to time :)

Em Hotep, Rex!

It's a gradual process as we turn from one path to another.  A sometimes slow awakening, occasionally abrupt awakening, but eventually things become more clear.  The Netjeru are very patient with us, though.

Em hotep and welcome Rex!

They certainly let us know when they want us to know something. It might be because it was mindless, more so than the symbol itself. But that's something you discover for yourself.

Em Hotep and welcome, Rex.

There may be some Netjeru who might appreciate the symbolism and meaning behind the item, but They may be asking you right now to take it off in order to give you the best experience you need to make an informed decision. Like making sure you have a clean slate, I guess? Anyway, welcome.
