*Squees uncontrollably*

Seeing orphaned bats makes me sad though.... I want to help all of them.... at least they seem to be in very good hands there ^.^

<3 All the bats.

Thank you Ha'aut for posting that link! I didn't know that there were even words for "bat" that had been found.

While we may never know how they were thought of (or not thought of?) historically, I know my attitude towards them is decidedly positive. :D

*bump*

Found this old thread and wondered if anyone else has ever had UPG associating bats with Nut, and kind of by extension, Set?  (I'm another bat lover- my favorite animal after cats!)

I personally associate this little guy with both of my parents (hence I use them a lot for profile pictures :) ) https://featuredcreature.com/scorpion-stings-just-aint-no-thang-for/

Desert long eared bats - they're hardy little critters who live in the desert and eat venomous scorpions!

Now that you mention Nut, though, I'm reminded of these chaps https://beezeeart.com/collections/bats
I'm not sure I would associate Set with all bats, but Nut definitely makes sense

Yes, there's no kind of critter that brings the night sky to mind for me better than a bat!  And since Set is Nut's son and also associated with darkness (as well as being commonly misunderstood), it seems not an illogical extension to make.  For some reason I tend to associate vampire bats with Him the most- possibly because they are perhaps the *most* misunderstood/maligned of all bats and the ones people tend to be the most wary of.  (They also happen to be my favorite kind of bat- I think they're fascinating!)
