Songs of Praise
« on: November 02, 2015, 06:50:35 am »
Em Hotep, everyone!

Firstly, unrelated question, but I read on another website about a few Kemetic phrases I was hoping someone here could validate. Specifically, the phrases:
"Iau seper ti em hotep", being a longer and perhaps more formal version of our standard greeting, and secondly "Di ankh Ra mi djet" being some form of blessing of eternal life in the name of Ra. Can anyone here versed in the Kemetic language validate these phrases? I'd love to start using them, but I don't know if they're accurate or not. Thanks in advance! :)

And onto the main topic of this thread, I LOVE expressing my faith through music. I've found "He Lives in You" from Lion King 2 to be a fantastic song to listen to while thinking about/worshipping the Netjeru. Does anyone else know any great songs that make them think of Netjer? That you can listen to or sing about Netjer as part of your worship?
I've been looking for some songs/hymns to sing to praise Ra with, but I can't find any particularly fitting except the one I already said. Does anyone know any more good ones? Again, thanks in advance! :D

I love listening to music as a form of praise too  :D
I associate certain songs with Yinepu and Set, but I can't think of a song I'd listen to for overall praise of Netjer

I don't really mind which Netjeru you feel a song can be praising, I'd just like to hear some ideas :) I'm most interested in Ra, but I'd be very open to hearing songs praising other Netjeru.

my UPG is that Set enjoys punk rock music and Anup likes things that are darker and more melodic (although "Not Alone" is pretty fast paced)

These are the ones I personally listen to when I want to think of Anup and Set  ;D

For Anup:
"Lead Me Home" - Jamie N. Collins
"Not Alone" - All That Remains
"Light My Way" - Audioslave
"Death Whispered a Lullaby" - Opeth

For Set:
"Gasoline" by Audioslave
"We Are the One" by Anti-Flag
"Resistance" by The Casualties

Obviously these aren't songs that were written for Netjeru, but I use them as a form of praise because they make me think of them.
