Hello!
« on: February 18, 2016, 11:02:22 am »
Hello everyone,
I am Alexandros, originally from Athens. I have found this forum a few days ago after doing a bit of research on modern polytheistic religions, and I can say I have found it very interesting. I myself am polytheist, but involved with the Hellenic pantheon. However I believe I might have a 'connection' (If you can say so) with Anubis. A few months ago, I watched a movie on Ancient Egypt, where the god in question was portrayed on walls and a few statues of him were displayed. When I looked at him, I felt a sense of safety mixed with 'attraction'. But I dismissed it as some sort of false impression, feeling already very comfortable with my gods. Anubis was a god I liked very much in my childhood, and still to this day. But I never gave him a serious thought.
However now, I have given it a second thought, and I am open to the possibility of his existence. Unfortunately, I am pretty much ignorant on Ancient Egyptian religion and philosophy, which is a bit of a problem. And I think I might need a bit of advice to begin.

Hello Alexandros, and welcome!

The first thing I would suggest, is to browse the forums and main web page of our temple (www.Kemet.org). A lot of information can be gained that way well you feel out the connection that led you here. In addition, I want to remind you that we are not the only people who connect and worship Netjer, there are many smaller groups located throughout the world, some of which have an internet presence.  So don't feel like you have to pigeon-hole yourself into only one set of beliefs or practices.

Eventually, you will probably want to take the beginner's course. It is an online, free, no commitment opportunity to learn from our priesthood directly. They will teach some of our practices, beliefs, organization, etc. At the end, you will be given the opportunity to become a member of the temple, or not. It is your choice, and many people take the course with no intention to become members.

Again, welcome!

Welcome to the forums.  Also, seeing as you are Greek, keep in mind that the history of Anubis and his worship extended out even to Greece during the Ptolemaic period and into the classical world.  The name "Anubis" is Greek, after all :-)

When it comes to Yinepu (Anubis) the site does have who he is, listed.  You'll find it under Kemet.org, Kemetic Orthodoxy, names of the Netjer, Yinepu.
