Em Hotep!
Hello Anippe811
welcome. I tell you, im new here too, I have just completed the beginner course and i can say it´s wonderful and interesting. You will learn a lot.
About Sekhmet, i tell you that i have a shrine from many years ago, i started by my own before knowing kemetic orthodox existed. Sekhmet will show you, follow your heart, i did it and i realized that many things i felt i had to do, then i discovered that are usual things for the Shrine and offerings, so i would say you are in the correct way.
About the stones, great!!!! i love them (im geologist) and its a very good choice a tourmaline (a black one, takes out bad energy) and carnelian i think its good for Sekhmet because its red.
Do not hurry, just listen to your heart and study the beginners lessons.
(Sorry for my english, im spanish speaker)
Good luck!

Thank you both for the encouragement with the course and the reassurance about my altar/ shrine. I am reading up some of the recommended books until the course starts, which is why I am very quiet so far. (The inner geek girl has to consult the books first and foremost lol).
