A weird Heru and more
« on: August 28, 2016, 06:26:25 am »
Hi there  :D

I found a statue which looked like a cat/sphinx/dog with the head of Heru-sa-Aset. I don't know who it could resemble, I never saw anything like that.

Also, for purposes, could this statue be used for Sokar?

unusual, but not weird at all. heru gets iconography like a lion body and falcon headed as well. I could say it is heru-behdety, or even heru-sa-aset. but I'm not sure.

I popped some stuff into Google and got this?

So you might've been right. I never saw Heru in this form  ;D

This form is closely connected with Heru-Behedety, in the Edfu tempel which is dedicated to him you find this depiction frequently on pillars.

Depending on context Heru-Behedety could be either a form of Heru-Wer or Heru-Sa-Aset.

Heri-Sesheta Heru-Sa-Aset

Cool! It's a nice find to be honest, I was quite confused the first time I saw that statue, I thought "What in the everloving heavens is that?!"

Btw, Tanebhet, the other statue, would it make a suitable Sokar? I saw a similar statue somewhere else and it looks the same just with a more "bandage"-y pattern on his body.

I think that statue would work fine for Sokar.
You could always do a simple yes/no divination to see if Sokar accepts this statue as representation.
