Little Known Deities...
« on: December 01, 2016, 08:35:29 pm »
Anyone speak with deities who are not spoken about much here (in Kemetic Orthodoxy) or who are considered "not so popular"?

I suppose I do, since Min is considered one of those "odd gods" and he's a beloved of mine!

Seshat is my first (and originally only) Beloved and She's not "popular."

My "Great Father" Banebdjedet (Amun-Re as) and my Beloved Herishef (Wesir as) certainly qualify.

As for those not in my lineup, I pay worship to Bes (Who is gradually getting more popular within the House, I gather!), Duamutef, and a number of the "Egyptianized" Levantine deities. The latter group being attached to my "First Father" Set and my Beloved Herishef, and indirectly I am attached to Them via my Jewish / Eastern Mediterranean ethnicity and heritage ("The Haddu," Rešep and Hûrûn, chiefly. Not so much Qōdeš, ‘Anat, and the Astaret-Goddesses, except in passing where They concern those male Divinities). I engage with Min, too, but chiefly through my "Great Father."

There have been / are a few others, too, but my worship of those other Divinities hasn't been consistent and "elaborate" enough that I think it counts. :P

I recently became a beloved of Wenut. She is the most Odd god of my line-up. But she is Bast-as-Wenut. Still Wenut though.

My Mother, Mafdet, probably qualifies. She doesn't seem to have many children or Beloveds, and there's not a ton of information out there on Her.

Most of my lineup is "Odd Gods" that aren't as well known, and I work with a few other less common Names as well.

My Mother is Mut in Her Form of/as Amunet (Amunet for short), and of my Beloveds there's Seshat, Amun-Min, and Nefertem. I also speak with Kek/Keket.

There's more Sobek-Ra kids than Sobek kids these days, and I'm the only one remaining as an active child for both my parents (Sobek and Taweret).

Out of my beloveds, I'd say Khnum and Khepera are the lesser known ones. But Khepera seems to qualify most as an odd god, just because he isn't seen or interacted with so often.

Well, while both my Mother Tefnut and my Beloved Uncle Shu definitely qualify as Odd Gods (I'm the only child of Tefnut so far, and there's one child of Shu, and a handful of people have either One as Beloved), They might be better known, or at least better known of, than some other Odd Gods.

I also work with the Ogdoad (especially Nun/Nunet and Kek/Keket), and very recently Mehet-weret and Menhyt-Nebtuu have become important to me.

I'd tentatively posit that my first-of-three Beloveds, Ptah, is lesser-known. Around the House I've seen Him syncretized as Ptah-Sokar-Wesir, but rarely does He seem to show up as "just" Ptah.

And He's really such a wonderful God--very quiet, but steady, but sure, but encouraging--and I'm so thankful to be His beloved. :)

For a deity that was very popular in old Kemet, Ptah (or Ptah-Sokar-Wesir as I have him) isn't so known now.  I too find Him very steady and calming.  Dua Ptah!

I'm very fond of Meretseger (who Hemet just confirmed is a really big Netjeri rather than a Name), and though she is not a part of my lineup, I do honour Her. Her harshness and implacability attracts me for some reason.
