There is and there is?
« on: October 20, 2017, 10:21:49 am »
Em hotep guys! :)

After a conversation with a friend I had a thought. Is it okay if one chooses to show an emotion or work on something that more than one deities is known for, but to worship only one or two deities?

For example... Science, or anything that goes along with creating stuff - I think both Ptah and Djehuty can be involved but I work more with Djehuty. Or on the other scale, love for example - there is Hethert and there is Bast. I feel more connected to Bast here. In short, I feel pulled more towards particular Netjeru than others, even if more than one Netjer is known for the same thing.

Any thoughts?

Em hotep, Gleb!

Yes, it is quite OK to worship the gods that you feel comfortable with. For example, if there is an obstacle of some sort in my life, it might be obvious to pray to Wepwawet to open the way. However, I feel more comfortable praying to Djehuty, The Guide, that I may solve the issue and find the best way through. Also, keep in mind that Netjer is connected and that they do not have solely exclusive roles that no other Name can be associated with. Fluidity and polyvalent logic are what I love about our religion :)

But with that said, it also can be fun and reach out to a god that you aren't comfortable with sometimes just to get to know Them a little more :)

Em hotep Gleb *henu*

It's pretty common to be pulled toward one Name over another, even if they both share similar influence over things such as love and creativity.   As KO we worship them all, but I think most of us have  affinities for individual Names that we know better.

Em hotep, friend!

I also turn to different Names for similar things, depending on Whom I'm feeling close to at the moment or Whomever is trying to get my attention. For example, both Ptah and Djehuty are known for presiding over creativity (albeit in different forms), but I've found that I'll turn to One or The Other for Anything Creative At All--and Whomever it is tends to vary. I try to be mindful of why; stories, for me, are always by default offerings to Djehuty--but I'll still talk to Ptah about them, too. ;)

And, of course, I think we can approach Whomever we feel closest to about anything, whether or not They seem connected to it (but They are, of course, being One with Netjer and Netjer being All); They might help, or They might guide us in the direction of Someone Else instead.  <3

What a lovely question! Thank you for asking it!

Thanks everyone for the lovely answers. <3 I'll try to be more open and address Netejer that I'm less familiar with. And yes, I think I needed to be reminded that all Neteru are connected. Thanks everyone :)
