Hello Everyone! I think I've finally come home.
« on: July 13, 2018, 06:54:58 am »
Hi there, I'm new here, and happy to meet you all!

I'm a 28 year old guy coming to you all from Sacramento California. I'm a bit of a spiritual drifter, as it were. Since I first started to question the nature of divinity and the gods over a decade ago I haven't really "belonged" anywhere. I've researched and experienced a bit of everything trying to find a spiritual home.

Asatru? Religio Romana? Buddhism? Taoism? Phoenician Reconstructionism? Abrahamic faiths? Hellenismos? Baha'i? I've been around, but never really felt at home. But finally, I think I just might be there. It's not something I can really put a finger on or explain, but when I think about the Netjeru there's just something that feels "right" about them, something that was always missing before. I don't have much of a Godphone (none really), so I can't say I've ever felt particularly close to any deity. With one exception.

It was Het-Hert actually. Years ago, during my initial searchings, I remember I was reading something about Her, and all of the sudden I was completely overcome with this feeling of almost giddy euphoric happiness and unconditional love (and not to be way too crass here, but in the past I used to have to take opiate painkillers. You know feeling of euphoria that opiates can provide? Yeah, that didn't even compare to how just a moment of Her love felt). I was just sitting there, alone, uncontrollably giggling to myself! It was literally (as in, literally literally) as if She was right there singularly focused on me. In a way the energy was so strong it was almost overwhelming, but at the same time still so welcoming and powerful. You'd think I'd take this as a sign or something but nope! I'm too hard headed for that apparently. Assuming it was indeed Her, She hasn't communicated with me in the same way since. All the more reason to show Her, and all the Netjeru, that I really was worthy of such a gift, and to finally provide Them with the devotion They deserve.

So here I am, nearly a decade later I've finally found myself here in this temple and on these forums, and enrolled myself in the Beginners Class.

So again, it's nice to finally meet you all! I'm looking forward to this exciting new journey :)
