The Ma'ati
« on: February 10, 2019, 06:14:35 pm »
Em Hotep all,

I failed at doing a search on this forum so I apologise if there's a thread on this already (and please point me to it if there is). I wanted to see if anyone has had experience with The Ma'ati and if they have any sources on Them? I've had The Ma'ati come through in Senut and I'm finding it difficult to find any documentation on The Ma'ati at all :|

Senebty and thanks,
Merit

There is only some information on the Ma'ati as they are a fusion of Aset and Nebet Het.  I have experienced Them a couple times. I have heard Them speak as  one or Aset speaking for both.

They are primarily found, iirc, in the Hall of  Ma'ati, which is the place where the dead are judged.  I know that the dissertation to Nephthys by Jessica Levai mentions Them, but it's only a paragraph or so.

Hotep TahekerutAset,

Sorry I should have worded my post more clearly. I know who They are, I wondered if anyone here has personal experience with The Ma'ati, and if so, any pointers on how to interact with Them. Offerings, prayers etc that kind of thing.

Senebty,
Merit

Oh. Okay.

I'd personally look at how both Aset and Nebet Het are very similar.  I'd focus on their similarities and go from there.  Aset-Nebet Het is very much the Lady of the West, Goddess of the Underworld, so maybe colors like blue and purple.

Aset as Lady of the West was offered grapes and cucumbers and fruit. I found this in a book which I can't remember off the top of my head.  The book may have been the Shrine of Tutankhamun, maybe.

Some offering ideas could be water, flame, vegetables, roses, fruit and cake.

I hope that helps.
