Please call me Sundust. I have a little bit of an archaeology / academic background, but I had to stop due to reoccurring illness and adjusting to a disability. I probably won’t be able to return to it professionally but I still love to frequently  ‘reseach’ about anything that interests me, including ancient Egypt. Recently I’ve been translating a little bit for fun and German-practice from the Lexikon der ägyptischen Götter und Götterbezeichnungen - and I know that some of the members have done likewise before  :)

While I have always been a spiritual person, I don’t have a religious background or particular framework that I’ve followed, so very happy to try Senut. I’m also more of a lurker online really but social anxiety be damned, I felt called to say hello. I plan also to sign up for the beginner’s course in June. I’ve been to Egypt once, about ten years ago, and I think this quote sums to how I felt.

Quote
“If you have been in the vicinity of the sacred - ever brushed against the holy - you retain it more in your bones than in your head; and if you haven’t, no description of the experience will ever be satisfactory.”
Daniel Taylor - In Search of Sacred Places: Looking for Wisdom on Celtic Holy Islands

I’m especially interested in Wepwawet - and wish desperately for more information on Hethert of Medjed, but have had no luck so far with interlibrary loans for books / articles about her. I also am very fond of Anupet, Pakhet, Meret, and Wenut.

Em hotep Sundust!
You are very welcome! I am confident that you will discover much here....probably more than you ever thought!
I sense you really 'need' fellowship, and believe me......you will find honest, loving fellowship here.
I apologize in advance if I am 'off mark', but after many years (too many) trying to find a real home, I cannot raise this KO religion enough.
Just let go, and let yourself be guided!

What a lovely quote, and welcome to the community. I hope you find something that echoes the same love that you put into your introduction.

May the Netjeru bless you with illumination and fellowship.

The following site is more from an art historical point of view, but it shows various types of Hethert's art, and a little bit about her name and titles.  (It's mine, blush!  Some day, I will do more with it....)

I'd willingly bang my head against it a few times if that meant that I could have a physical copy of a volume or two - might be able to see all the pages then  ;)

Em hotep ^.^

Translating, eh?  You're in good company, for sure.  Ibi and I are both translating German books for information about specific Names, and I know others here like to poke around the LAGG as well.  And I see you've got interest in quite a few Odd gods, as we like to call them!  May your path of discovery be opened, and may you find what you seek <3

Looking forward to getting to know you (:

Em hotep, Sundust! Welcome to the community!

I hope you enjoy the beginner's class as much as I did, and find some good connections here! I'm pretty socially anxious myself, but even I've managed to make some really close friends - I'm sure you'll find lots of folks to connect with! Plenty of Wepwawet kids, too ;)

Look forward to hearing more from you!

Em hotep and welcome, Sundust! I love the quote you've shared. It's so powerful. And I agree with the others, you'll definitely find great fellowship here if you decide to stay with us! I'm also very socially anxious and I've made many great friends! And there's definitely many like-minded people here who love doing research and translating and such.

Senebty and I hope you enjoy the beginner's class!
