Hello, and a short introduction
« on: July 08, 2019, 05:30:49 pm »
[This is a copy of the intro I posted to the Beginners' Class forum, but apparently not everyone can see that, so please excuse if you've read his before!]

Em hotep! My name is Storm, I’m retired and I live in Colorado. I used to work in adult education, and before that in software development. I emigrated from Britain to the United States in 2009 to get married. We have five adult children, mostly in their forties and fifties in the US, UK, and Australia, and five grandchildren in England.

I started my spiritual journey back in the 1970s. I learned to meditate. I trained in healing. I practiced divination, starting with the I Ching but going on to tarot, runes, and many other forms. I remember my first Kemetic interest then was reading Joan Grant’s novels! Later I investigated many religions, practicing Heathenry and Buddhism.

Fifteen years ago, while living in Scotland, I saw a bust of Sekhmet at the Burrell Collection in Glasgow. She made a huge impression on me! Her amazing mix of power and compassion became very real in my life. Last year I got to know Het-Heru really well: she’s wonderful and I’m utterly devoted! I’ve since written two novels in which they both feature.

I'm delighted to be here!

Senebty,
Storm

Welcome to the community, Storm. The Beginner's Class is fantastic, I hope you enjoy it! What were your experiences like practicing Heathenry and Buddhism? They seem so different!

Em hotep and Welcome, Storm!

What a fascinating life you've led!  I hope you enjoy your explorations here.  May Hethert/Sekhmet bless you greatly!

(I did an internet search to find a photo of the Glasgow Sekhmet and found two small photos:

There are many museums blessed to have a statue of Sekhmet made in Amenhotep III's reign.)

Thank you, all, for a wonderfully warm welcome! I am very much looking forward to the Beginners' Class.

@Neheh - yes that is She! Thank you for those pictures. Here is another. She was a stunning sight gazing through the doorway and down the path at all visitors entering the museum. And thank you for the blessing!

@NeighbourhoodWitch - well I didn't practice both at the same time! And I practice neither now. It was Kuan Yin who brought me to Buddhism. And runes brought me to Heathenry, and my being very active in its reconstruction for thirteen years taught me a lot.

I know I've been fortunate to have trodden a full and varied journey. But with Netjer, it feels like coming home at last. I hope can bring something worthwhile to the community.
