Hello, hello.
« on: February 07, 2020, 01:16:49 am »
Hello all,

I hope to join Class 56 to learn more about your faith and potentially join your community. I see a board titled "[PRIVATE] Shemsu/Remetj/Beginners General", so I think I may be in luck (:. I have been a solo practitioner of Tameran/Kemetic paganism and witchcraft for over a decade now, and I've finally been pushed by Bes to seek out a 'family' of sorts with whom to share my trials and my joys ♥.

I am closest to Bes and Sekhmet-Mut, who I refer to as Papa and Mother respectively (though I understand that this would not be appropriate within your system without confirmation from your Nisut?), and I also regularly honour Auset, Nebet Het, Wesir and Anpu. My practice is closely involved with ancestral work and veneration, healing and protection, and social activism.

I look forward to meeting you all, and hopefully to making some real connections and friendships here.

Love always,

Em hotep & welcome!

I don't think that you calling Bes & Sekhmet-Mut is improper without Hemet (AUS)'s confirmation exactly. At least, I never saw anything saying it wasn't okay to consider certain Names to be Parents without confirmation (I was calling my Parents "Dad" months before I was divined). It's more like be prepared for Anyone to show up as Parents & Beloveds if you opt for the Rite of Parent Divination. It is recommended not to focus on Anyone during the Beginner's Course, though (despite some Names being VERY loud)

its not improper, at least i dont think, just keep you mind open for other names that may step forward. I know i was heavy stuck on just Heru before i met this community, and he had to kick my butt to open up my mind a little, and then i joined the community and after that a few names made an appearance for me.

I agree with the others, as part of the Beginner's Course they will recommend that you keep your mind open and not give too much attention to any specific Names.

I was calling Aset 'Mother' long before I got divined, but I still went into my RPD with my mind open. That being said, no one is going to be upset with you for referring to them in any specific way within your private practice.

Within the direct terms of Kemetic Orthodoxy only, it would be a bit confusing to call Someone "Mother" or "Father" who is not actually your Parent Name as divined through the Rite of Parent Divination via the Nisut(AUS)

However, as beginners, many people come to the House with current connections to Netjeru including strong parental-type bonds, and probably none among us are going to say "That's wrong, don't do that" -- who are any of us to speak on your personal relationship with the Gods afterall? We respect the right of everyone to worship Who and however they like.

What we say is to keep an open mind. There are some Names of Netjer who will guide you to the House and make an exit from your day to day life, and there are other Netjeru who guide people here who are in fact that person's Parent or perhaps one of their Beloveds. And still other Netjeru who you may not have even thought about who will pop in as Parent(s) or Beloved (s). Which was my experience: I couldn't have pointed to Wepwawet in a lineup had you asked me to when I first arrived here :) He was an unknown, a complete surprise.

So the idea is to keep your mind open to the various possibilities, and not to be fearful or concerned about change should a different Netjeru step up to claim your head in the event you choose to proceed with RPD later on and would like to pursue a deeper relationship with Kemetic Orthodoxy (which will always be entirely up to you).

Em hotep!

I have Papa Bes and Mama Taweret as Beloveds, though they were Papa and Mama far before then, so it is really up to you for the most part.

Happy to have you here (and really happy to talk Bes at any time)!
