Senut Experiences

Em hotep!

I am having a hard time determining which Names are manifesting Themselves to me during Senut. I don't want to overthink or have a pre-conceived notion of who They might be. Often times the experience is a quiet or an uneventful one. I will still pray, knowing They can hear me, and have hope one day I will be able to perceive Them in a way I can understand.

When I first started, I felt Yinepu (one of the gods I honor but have paused in my devotionals because of the beginner's class) and Set might have been around. I then began to notice I would see lightning flash or gentle thunder whenever I happened to do Senut or when I randomly thought of the Netjeru. I thought this could be Set considering He is associated with storms, however, He doesn't seem like the gentle type.

Last night, I saw an owl in the way the firelight reflected onto my door through the candle holder on the shrine. I believe Nebt-het can be associated with the owl. I knew next to nothing about Her, and read in some myths She is the mother of Yinepu, and the sister/consort of Set. She can also be associated with rain.

I do speak Their Names to see if it is this Name or that Name. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to perceive a definitive answer.

Does anyone else have a suggestion of what to try? Or thoughts on their own experiences when trying to determine Who is visiting you?

My friend suggested a dream spell from the prayer book. I had a few questions on it, and posted that in Ask the Nisut thread.

For me, having Their Name pop into my head or the desire to speak said Name aloud is enough for me to feel sure on what (or Who) I’m experiencing. I don’t so much look to worldly associations unless something is happening repeatedly or feels significantly related to other spiritual experiences.
As far as discernment, I think it’s something that just takes time <3

I'm afraid I'm very bad at figuring out who I'm talking to. The only times I've known for sure, is when I addressed someone directly and they responded.

When I sense someone new, I ask questions about them and pay attention to any idea that comes to mind, like "I think this is a solar deity" etc. Hopefully that can narrow it down. Then if I have some guesses, just ask them "Are you ____?" and see if I get a definite yes/no feeling in response. So far I haven't had much luck getting definite answers, but it's worth a try. (It's the only way I can communicate.)

I then began to notice I would see lightning flash or gentle thunder whenever I happened to do Senut or when I randomly thought of the Netjeru. I thought this could be Set considering He is associated with storms, however, He doesn't seem like the gentle type.

Just a comment on this... I've been surprised by a few different Names. I thought I knew what their personality was like, and... I wasn't wrong, but I was so focused on the more visible aspects of their personality that I didn't look any deeper, and it turned out that there is a lot more to them. I don't know Set at all, but after the surprises I've had with others, I would be hesitant to say that any particular Name is/isn't the ____ type. They may surprise you.
