Jasmine- what are you using for the Set statue? It's not a pose that I recognize :)

Devo - They are a set of new statues that I've come across. The Iset statue is from the same design.
Set
  Bastet
  Anpu
  Iset

That is a better picture of him. I've been tempted to set up some other shrines once I move with the Bast and Anpu statues from this set as well. They are all so beautiful, and they just spoke so clearly and loudly to me! Especially Iset.

I'll get some better pictures of them once I start packing everything up since the details on Bast and Anpu are amazing to me :D

This is the Bast and Anpu statues I'm thinking of getting:

Uhm... I'll probably be flogged to death with cotton now, but does that Set statue really have dog's ears and a canine's muzzle complete with a doggy nose? For to me, that statue looks much more like an irate jackal-type, but not like Father... No square ears, but semi-canine feet with claws... I'm confused.

Uhm. To be precise: it is a gorgeously made statue and definitely shrine-worthy, oh yes. It's just that I would never see it to depict Set looking at it. *dives for cover*

Edit: I just saw the prices. Ouch... I never knew these statues are so expensive over in the U.S... and have you seen those adorable plush gods' animals? Aaaaw... now those aren't available over here. Pity...

Petyu- I had wondered the same thing, which is why I had asked for clarification. There are times when Set is depicted more canine like- but in my experience, his nose/muzzle is far more delicate and thin than the avg. jackal depiction. Both in AE art and UPG. But I have no clue what the original artist/creator of the statue was intending. That seems to be the biggest issue with modern iconography.

Well, I see it as a modern interpretation of the Netjeru. I am sure that Father would give me a good wallop around the head if I put that statue in shrine, but that is me and me only.

All those statues look very... uhm... animorphic to me. With the semi-animal feet, the heads depicting a realistic animal instead of the iconography. They are very well-done, but I'd never recognize Set in the Set one. Baaah... pedantic ol' German Set kids, eh? ^^

I think the "Set as canine" comes from the idea of His animal being the salawa. <3 LOVE them! I haven't had experience with Set but I have with the Set-beast and It is most impressive. :)

Even the sawala has square ears and the downcurved snout... hmmm. I won't question artists, it's no use, because they create ART and not statues. :)

The Set animal I know along with a funny text about the Wesir-Set issue is here:   external link

I lost the address to that site where you can download your photo's. I think it might be photobucket, but I don't know. Can you help me, please.
